Tet is a Vietnamese holiday. This is a moment for all Vietnamese to reflect on the previous year and look forward to the next year. Tet is marked by spring festivals, beautifully adorned streets and public buildings, and crowds of Tet shoppers in most stores. Everything is cleaned at home, and traditional dishes, other foods, soft drinks, flowers, and betel nuts, as well as incense sticks, are set on the ancestral altar. When a special visitor comes to visit, the youngsters are given money in red envelopes to welcome the new year. Tet is also a holiday dedicated to peace and love. During Tet, children normally behave nicely, and friends, family, and neighbors exchange New Year's greetings.
