During my high school years, I was laughed at and bullied by people. In order to avoid the situation from happening again in college, I lived a secluded life and got into a self-created "shell", out of fear of rejection. It took me a whole semester to realize this was wrong. And I'm not alone, almost all of us are afraid of feeling rejected. Let go of shyness and prejudices about the lovable friends around us and you will find that opening up to people will not be difficult. College offers a great environment for fostering creativity and friendship. Don't try to show that skeptics are wrong, focus on improving yourself.
