What are the advantages and disadvantages of wearing scool uniform?The big advantage of a uniform is that it reduces the risk of children being easily judged on their 'outside school' social and economic position.  The poor child looks like the rich child, and they both look like the child from a strict religious upbringing.

In schools with varied intakes (and that is every school), the teachers and fellow students should have as hard a time as possible applying social prejudices to the pupils.

On the downside, uniforms can be expensive, and are often rather dull.
