The lotus dance (Điệu múa sen) is one of the most famous dances in Viet Nam and its Vietnamese original name is Mua Hoa Dang. This colorful came from the days of Vietnamese feudalism (Chế độ phong kiến ​​việt nam)  in the 17th century. The lotus dance represents daily events and is usually performed on special occasions. With its beauty and fragrance, the lotus is regarded as Vietnamese national flower. It symbolizes the elegance (sang trọng) of typical Vietnamese women and the religious and cultural beauty of the nation. The dancers wear long, lotusprint dresses, and conical hats and create a beautiful image of the lotus using different expressions. The art of the dance shows viewers not only the beauty of dancing but also the beauty of the lotus that rooted in the culture of the Vietnamese people.
