I always remember the first time I’ve seen a huge storm. It was a dark and stormy afternoon in 2010. Thunder crashed outside, and the dark room was briefly illuminated by a flash. I turned on the TV and flicked to the weather forecast. I pinpointed where we were on the map and realized the storm eye was heading straight towards us. Over three hundred lightning flashes had been recorded in the area and there had been reports of tornado activity nearby. It started raining heavily with strong winds. I could hear the clashing sound of hail bouncing off the windows. My mother and I had to close all the windows carefully and stay together in the kitchen, waiting for the storm to stop. Then, as soon as the storm started, it stopped. The sky turned yellow after a tornado. So lucky that we were still safe.

Tôi vẫn nhớ như in lần đầu tiên mình tận mắt chứng kiến một cơn bão lớn. Hôm ấy là một buổi chiều tối trời năm 2010. Bên ngoài khi ấy sấm chớt gầm rú, cả căn phòng tối đen chỉ còn lại một bóng đèn chiếu sáng. Tôi mở TV lên vào chuyển sang kênh dự báo thời tiết. Tôi phát hiện ra nơi mình ở trên bản đồ và nhận ra tâm bão đang đổ bộ về phía nhà mình. Hơn ba trăm trận sét đã được ghi nhận tại khu vực và có báo hiệu lốc xoáy đang đến gần. Trời bắt đầu mưa nặng hạt và gió vù vù thổi. Tôi có thể nghe được tiếng đập của từng hạt mưa đá nện ngoài cửa sổ nhà mình. Tôi và mẹ phải đóng hết cửa sổ cẩn thận và cùng nhau trốn dưới bếp chờ bão tan. Và rồi cơn bão ập đến nhưng cũng tan ngay tức khác. Bầu trời trở lại ráng vàng sau trận lốc đó. May mắn là cả nhà tôi vẫn được an toàn.

Natural disasters are one of the biggest problems that people have to confront nowadays. So does Vietnam, we are against natural disasters. The most common natural disasters in Vietnam are hurricanes. The hurricanes can cause damage to houses and peoples. A lot of people lost homes, which leads that they don’t have a place to live in. Not only that, they also suffer the pain of losing their relatives. According to statistics, the hurricanes in Vietnam made about 230 people die and a lot of people can’t be found. What is more dangerous than it causes the flood. Flooding is also a dangerous natural disaster because it can cause harm like a hurricane... Additionally, it can make the water line polluted and this is one of the causes that make people and animals sick. From these arguments, we can know about the harmfulness of hurricanes and floods so I will tell you some ways to prevent the hurricanes and floods. First, you should always update the news about the hurricanes. Second, you should prepare essential things such as water, food, clothes, medicines, first-aid-kits,...Third, we should reinforce our house and always be ready to evacuate. In conclusion, I can say that natural disasters are extremely dangerous, but we can prevent them by doing what I say.
