I think that in the future, the roles of teenagers will be similar to what they are today. The reason for this is because there's no way to predict how technology will change our society, and it's likely that teenagers' lives will be shaped by that. For example, if we start telecommuting or communicating through virtual reality, it might mean that families won't need to earn as much money. Then again, if we don't have a steady income, it's possible we'll rely more on bartering and trading services and in that case our teenage kids might be expected to help out with chores even more than they do now. Also, as we move closer to a cashless society, teenagers might actually have less responsibility for managing their own money. They'll just have access to the same funds their parents do. Really, who knows?
