The notion that university students should only get involved in charities is totally wrong. In fact, there are more good reasons to support it.
First of all, it is important to be involved in some kind of charity work while at university because it helps you develop as a person. You will sharpen your skills and learn how to manage your time better, as you must juggle between your academic studies and the charity work.
Secondly, by doing some form of volunteer work, you will not only help those in need but also help yourself. While working for a charitable organization, you will have the chance to make new friends or meet new people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Thirdly, being involved in charitable work helps you gain valuable experience that will help you get a job after graduation. When applying for a job after college, many employers ask about your involvement in any volunteering activities during your stay at university. This gives them an idea about what kind of person you are and whether or not you fit for the position or not.
