To me, English is not just a set of letters, but also a means to communicate. I have been learning English for six years and I will keep improving my English as long as I can.
Why do I learn English? There are three main reasons. First, it is the most important language in the world and many people speak it. For example, a lot of foreigners come to China on business and they may need someone who can translate Chinese into English or vice versa. Second, if you want to go abroad, you must learn some basic English so that you can understand your teacher and classmates. Third, there are many wonderful books written in English and you can only understand them if you know English well.
My plan is to get an "Expert" certificate of English proficiency before I graduate from university. In order to achieve my goal, I will try my best to listen carefully when the teacher is explaining grammar in class and practice talking with others in English every day. I will also read more books in English and watch TV programs spoken in it.
