Read the passage and choose the best answer to each of the following questions
Trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. During the process of photosynthesis, trees take in carbon dioxide and produce the oxygen we breathe. Trees, shrubs and turf also filter air by removing dust and absorbing other pollutants like carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. After trees intercept unhealthy particles, rain washes them to the ground.
Trees control climate by moderating the effects of the sun, rain and wind. Leaves absorb and filter the sun’s radiant energy, keeping things cool in summer. Trees also preserve warmth by providing a screen from harsh wind. In addition to influencing wind speed and direction, they shield US from the downfall of rain, sleet and hail. Trees also tower the air temperature and reduce the heat intensity of the greenhouse effect by maintaining tow levels of carbon dioxide.
Both above and below ground, trees are essential to the eco-systems in which they reside. Far reaching roots hold soil in place and fight erosion. Trees absorb and store rainwater, which reduces runoff and sediment deposit after storms. This helps the ground water supply recharge, prevents the transport of chemicals into streams and prevents flooding. Fallen leaves make excellent compost that enriches soil.
Many animals, including elephants, koalas and giraffes eat leaves for nourishment. Fruits are eaten by monkeys, and nectar is a favorite of birds, bats and many insects. Animals also eat much of the same fruits that we enjoy. This process helps disperse seeds over great distances. Of course, hundreds of living creatures call trees their home. Leaf-covered branches keep many animals, such as birds and squirrels, out of the reach of predators.

Read the passage and choose the correct answer to each of the following questions
Global warming endangers our health, jeopardizes our national security, and threatens other basic human needs. Some impacts such as record high temperatures, rising seas, and severe flooding and droughts - are already increasingly common.
Our personal vehicles are a major cause of global warming. Collectively, cars and trucks account for nearly one-fifth of all us emissions, emitting around 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other global-warming gases for every gallon of gas. In total, the us transportation sector - which includes cars, trucks, planes, trains, ships, and freight - produces nearly thirty percent of all us global warming emissions, more than almost any other sector. Unfortunately, oil-related emissions may rise in the coming years as the oil industry extracts and refines “unconventional” oils, such as tar sands and tight oil. Using less oil - and avoiding unnecessary emission from the oil we do use - is the real solution. And it is found!
Fuel-efficient vehicles use less gas to travel the same distance than their less efficient counterparts. When we burn less fuel, we generate fewer emissions. When emissions go down, the pace of global warming slows. Besides, cleaner fuels produce fewer emissions when they’re burned. Some fuels - such as those made from cellulosic biofuels - can reduce emissions by 80 percent compared to gasoline. And better regulations would help prevent the gasoline we do use from getting any dirtier. What’s more, electric cars and trucks use electricity as fuel, producing fewer emissions than their conventional counterparts. When the electricity comes from renewable sources, all-electric vehicles produce zero emissions to drive. These and other solutions are here today - but more can be done to save the Earth.
(Union of Concerned Scientists)
Which of the following is NOT an impact of global warming according to the passage?

A. Human’s health is endangered.

B. Our national security is ensured.

C. High temperatures and rising seas.

D. Severe flooding and droughts.

Câu 75 :
Why may oil-related emissions rise in the coming years?

A. Because we have too many personal vehicles.

B. Because we do not reduce unnecessary emission from the oil we do use.

C. Because the oil industry extracts and refines “unconventional” oils.

D. Because there has not been any solutions to the situation yet.

Câu 76 :
How can fuel-efficient vehicles slow global warming down?

A. They use less fuel to travel the same distance; therefore, they generate fewer emissions.

B. Their counterparts are more efficient than them.

C. They use more modern technology than their counterparts.

D. They don't use fuel to operate.

Câu 77 :
Which of the following statements is NOT mentioned in the passage?

A. Cellulosic biofuels can reduce emissions by 80 percent compared to gasoline.

B. We are able to prevent the gasoline we do use from getting any dirtier by strictly following regulations,

C. Electric vehicles are a more efficient solution compared with cleaner fuels and fuel-efficient vehicles.

D. It’s possible that all-electric vehicles produce zero emissions to drive.
